Dear Colleagues,
On Friday 19 December 2025 at 9:30 AM at the UW Faculty of Physics
(Pasteura 5, Warsaw; room 1.40) we are hosting a seminar during which
Rafał Demkowicz-Dobrzański (IFT UW, Warsaw)
will give a talk
Quantum Metrology - an almost perfect theory with just a few cracks
Abstract: Recent theoretical developments have rendered quantum
metrology a mature field, where some of the most fundamental question
have been answered and efficient computational tools developed. We have
now a full understanding of quantum metrological potential in case of
noisy single parameter estimation models, provided the noise may be
assumed to be Markovian. Nevertheless, non-Markovian models remain
challenging and efficient universal theoretical tools are still missing.
Apart from that, multi-parameter estimation scenarios may pose a
challenge even in the Markovian regime, not to mention non-Markovian
one. Do not despair, though, some progress is being made…
We warmly welcome everyone to attend the talk and the Soft Matter Coffee
Break after the seminar, in room 2.63 (2nd floor).
